Waxing info for Steamboat inside.

The weather looks nice for the Steamboat marathon.  Cold temps overnight will warm quickly during the day.  Click for the forecast.

Toko's wax suggestion is here.  They are calling for hardening the skis up with cold waxes followed by a layer of jetstream corked in.

This sounds like a good strategy to us.  The snow should be fairly soft due to the large amount of recent snow, so a universal to soft flex ski with a universal grind on the cold side will probably work well.  ZR1XL, Z40XL and ZR1 should all be good choices.  If it warms up just a bit more than expected the Q1.3 will be excellent.

Harden up the bases with several layers of colder wax such as Swix CH4, Start Green or Toko LF Dibloc Blue.  For Swix, add a layer of LF6.

For one pair:

Swix: LF6 then HF6
Start: HF80
Toko: HF Blue mixed with Cold Powder.
Top Coats to try: Swix FC1 corked.  Solda HP05/S30 mixed 70/30. Toko Jetstream Moly High Speed Block corked.  SkiGo C105 Powder

For a second pair:

Swix HF7 or Toko HF Blue/HF Red Mix 60/40.  For powders, Swix FC7, Jetstream moly Powder or SkiGo C105 powder
