Swix is changing how pole lengths are measured for all new poles in the 2022-2023 season. The length of the pole is now measured to the top of the strap. Previously, the pole length was measured to the top of the handle, i.e. further up. This will ensure that you get the same length of pole regardless of the type of handle it uses.

Swix is making this change so that the measurement system is compatible with FIS regulations concerning the maximum length of poles in competitions.

This is how the poles are measured

The poles are now being measured to the strap - Green line.
Previously, the pole was measured to the top of the pole - Red line.

Conversion table: New vs. old pole lengths

To get the same length pole as you had with the previous pole sizing protocol, subtract 4cm from your previous length. Unfortunately, if you want the exact size you had previously, you will need to purchase a larger pole or a kit pole and cut it to the appropriate length as all poles come in 2.5cm or 5cm increments. See the chart below for details. As an example, if your old pole length was 160cm, you will need a 156cm pole in the new length, so you could get a new 160cm or 157.5cm pole and cut it to 156cm (remove 4cm or 1.5cm, respectively).

Same, but not same:  There will now be two different models of Swix Triac 4.0 in circulation: A version with an old and new measuring systems. The poles are precisely the same except for how the length is measured. The table above shows that if you before used 155cm poles, you now must go down to 150cm. Then there will be a difference of one cm in actual length from what you are used to. If you want it exactly the same, the poles must be cut.

Note: The table below applies to new poles from the 22/23 season. We have marked all the poles on Swixsport.com whether they follow the new or old measurement system. If a rod follows the old measurement system, you must add 5 cm according to the size guide below.
