Wax Recommendation
Base Glide Layer Recommendation:
- Race is fluoro-free.
- Apply a base layer of Rode Graphite. Scrape & Brush
Race Paraffin Recommendation: (choose one)
- Mix Rode R20 with Rode Arctic Powder in a 1:1 ratio. Drip the R20 on, then sprinkle the powder on top. Melt them in together.
- Holmenkol FF Green
- Start Green (SG8 or Race Green or Ultra Race Green)
Iron in, let cool, scrape, and brush well with a fine steel (preferred) or bronze brush. Let skis cool to outside temperature, then brush again well. Finish by polish brush (nylon or horsehair)
Powder Recommendation:
- Use Holmenkol FF Blue Fluor-free Powder.
Powder is not likely to make a significant difference in this race, so you may skip this step.
Topcoat Recommendation:
- Apply Rode Racing Liquid (RL) Cold (Blue).
Ideally, test the blue liquid before applying it. Liquids may not improve glide in fresh, cold snow.
Structure Recommendation:
- Cold Stone Grind BNS C1.2 or C1.L
- Given the expected low snow temperatures and moisture, no extra structure is recommended.
Kick Wax Recommendation:
- Base Layer: Apply a very thin layer of Guru Green and iron it in with a clean iron (no glide wax!).
- Wax of the Day: Given the cold temperatures and new snow, apply 2–3 layers of Guru Green or Rode B310 and cover with a thin layer of Rode Alaska.
Notes:
The conditions on race day are expected to be cold with fresh snow. Ensure your skis are prepared for new, cold snow conditions. Adjust your wax and structure choices based on any changes in the weather leading up to the race.
Please monitor the latest weather updates and adjust your waxing strategy as needed. Good luck, and have a great race!
