Colorado Native Takes the Vuelta
You watched it, we watched it, we're going to cover it anyway! Sepp Kuss was never supposed to roll into Madrid wearing the red jersey for Jumbo-Visma, but after a few strong early stages, including possibly his best time trial ever, he was able to secure the win. He did this as a rider who typically helps his teammates (specifically Roglic and Vingegaard) win races.
After a dominant Stage 6 win, Kuss found himself in the lead by almost three minutes. Not typically a great time trial rider, Kuss was able to hang onto the red bib with an overall lead of 26 seconds after stage 10. By stage 13, Jumbo-Visma had taken a commanding team lead, holding the top three spots in the tour. Despite having to compete against his teammates Vingegaard and Roglic throughout the later stages of the race, culminating on the Angliru climbing stage, Kuss held the lead. Finally, after this climbing stage, Kuss's teammates started riding for him as he had for them so many times before. He crossed the finish line as the first rider in more than 60 years to race all three Grand Tours in a season and win one of them.
For those who may not know, Sepp grew up mountain bike racing in Durango before heading to CU for his degree. While at CU, he won three national college titles, two in XC and one in Short Track. After transitioning into cycling from mountain biking, he joined Rally Cycling in 2016, his first pro team. Eventually getting noticed by LottoNL-Jumbo in 2017, he signed a two-year contract that, obviously, turned into much more. He has now helped Jumbo-Visma become the first team to win all three Grand Tours in one season, and he is the first American to win a Grand Tour in over a decade.

New Giant Defy and Liv Avail Models Available Now!
Here at BCS, we think comfort generally equals speed, especially on long rides. That's part of why we love the BMC Roadmachine as much as we do! It's a frame built for comfort and compliance rather than aggressive aerodynamics. Obviously, if you're racing, aerodynamics matter, but for most riders a comfortable ride will translate to more watts and a faster ride.
Giant has always offered a solid line of road bikes, and they've released new versions of the Giant Defy and Liv Avail, which are available online through Giant now! Compliance is the name of the game with both of these bikes. The new Defy features a brand-new stem and clearance for tires up to 38mm wide. Every Avail model is lighter than the previous generation, with the Advanced Pro in large saving 128 grams. These models will also be able to fit tires up to 38mm wide.
