It looks like the Boulder area is in for a little snowstorm! The forecast above is for Ward, CO, just a short hop away from us in Boulder. And the Tahoe area just got 12'. This is why March is one of our favorite months to ski in Colorado: bright sunshine, plenty of fresh snow, and the best skiing of the year—both on track and in the backcountry.
What should you do when there's 4' of fresh snow in the nearby mountains? Go play in it! The new Rottefella Xplore binding/boot system is a fantastic way to explore in four feet of powder. Here are some of the excellent ski and boot combinations we carry that can help you cover ground and float through powdery turns while climbing and descending with confidence and ease. A waxless pattern coupled with several skin options offers incredible versatility. This allows you to cover rolling terrain without installing/removing skins, yet you can climb steep pitches with skins as needed.
Be sure to check out our BC collection in-store or at bouldernordic.com today. Get out and enjoy an incredible spring skiing experience!

Stone Grinding Update
Our last weekly grind batch was completed March 11 and we are now transitioned to our off-season grind schedule of approximately one batch per month. Read details in the blog.
Lars Svensson from Tazzari visited us in Boulder on February 26-27. Lars came from Sweden to do maintenance and upgrades on our Tazzari RP-23 and RP-13 stone grinding machines and gave us some new structures to try out on snow. Lars is a character, and while he worked on our machines, we were regaled with stories and gossip from the elite world of stone grinding at the World Cup and in ski factories.

Kick Wax Layering and Covering
Classic waxing can sometimes seem like arcane voodoo, and there are many tricks and tips that can make a huge difference. One of the most useful tools to have in your kick-wax belt is understanding the concept of layering and covering.
Kick wax works by building a physical coating of sticky material on the middle "kick zone" of the ski, which engages the snow when pressed down into it. How you apply the wax on the ski, and the ways you can mix and layer waxes can have a huge influence on the performance of your kick and glide.
