IDT Sports: Precision Meets Performance

IDT Sports was born out of IDT Solutions, an aluminum machining company founded in 1995 in Lena, Norway. As an OEM supplier, IDT Solutions serves the furniture, electrical, and sporting goods industries with high-precision components.

In 2007, IDT Sports was launched to develop a better stonegrinder for the Norwegian National Team in preparation for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. The grinder proved highly effective in challenging snow conditions, helping Norway earn five gold medals across twelve events.

Innovation and Product Development

Since its founding, IDT Sports has continued to develop cutting-edge products:

  • 2011: Ski Analyzer
  • 2012: Custom structure tools and rollerskis
  • 2014: Waxing irons with fume extraction

They also manufacture a wide range of private-label products for other brands.

Supporting the Best

IDT Sports proudly sponsors multiple national teams, including Norway, Sweden, Germany, Italy, and the USA Nordic Combined team. Johannes Klaebo is also a key IDT athlete.

Rollerskis: Engineered for Excellence

A primary focus for IDT Sports is rollerskis, known for their exceptional quality and precision. Each model is CNC-machined from high-end aluminum for exact alignment and tight tolerances. This emphasis on precision and quality results gives IDT rollerskis their renowned stability and tracking. Key features include:

  • One-piece skate shafts for unmatched straightness, tracking, and control
  • Fully-machined classic rollerskis for directional stability
  • Premium components
    • SKF sealed bearings
    • Rottefella lockable rollerski bindings
    • Flexible fenders

Flagship Models

  • Skate Elite: The longest wheelbase on the market (715mm men’s / 680mm women’s), designed for better balance and to eliminate tail drag during push-off.
  • Classic Rollerski: Praised for its ski-like feel and ability to track smoothly through turns with excellent directional stability.
  • Classic Stakeski: A double-poling rollerski used by many Ski Classics teams. It features a longer wheelbase and two freewheels for kick-free training.

Wheel Speeds and Options

IDT offers wheels in four speeds, ranging from 1 (fastest) to 4 (slowest). Wet poly wheels are also available for enhanced grip on rainy, seal-coated, or leafy surfaces.

Recommended setups:

  • Skate: #2 wheels are the most popular and are recommended for most skiers.
  • Classic: Many skiers prefer a #2 front / #3 rear combo

Test-Winning Performance

In FasterSkier’s 2016 rollerski test, IDT was awarded Best in Test in the classic category and ranked a close second in the skate category.
